Robert Kreyer CDT
My experience as a dental technician in removable prosthodontics
started in 1969, working with my father and grandfather who were dental
technicians as well. I received my education and training in the US Army at the
Medical Field Service School in Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio Texas when the
vast majority of dental technicians were educated and trained in military
schools. During the last forty years I have always pursued excellence and
continuing education courses in removable prosthodontics. These continuing education courses included
The Swissedent Foundation with Dr. Jack Frush in 1975; Personalized Denture
study group with Dr. Earl Pound in 1982; Peter K. Thomas Occlusion Study Group at UCSF with Dr. Peter K Thomas 1978-79; Treatment Planning
Study Group at UCSF with Dr. Theodore Jacobson in 1984-85; The Odontic Seminar
Study Group at USC with Dr. Alex Koper in 1996-97.
In 1975 I opened my dental laboratory business Kreyer Dental
Prosthetics that is currently located in Larkspur California. I have a national
client base providing my removable prosthetic service to general dentists,
prosthodontists and periodontists throughout the United States.
Since 2004 I have authored a column on my complete denture prosthetic
techniques for Dental Lab Products publication, which has a circulation of
approximately 17,000 readers. From
2004-05 I wrote three columns per year and from 2006-2009 my columns were
increased to a minimum of five per year. During this period starting in 2005 I
presented my techniques at dental meetings and conventions, throughout North
America. In 2006 I was the first dental technician to present scientific table
clinics on removable prosthodontic technical laboratory procedures at both the
American Prosthodontic Society and the American College of Prosthodontists
annual scientific meetings.
In 2005 I became the first certified instructor in the United States
for Candulor in Zurich, Switzerland. Then in 2008 I took one week of
examinations in Schaan, Lichtenstein and became the first certified
Biofunctional Prosthetic System Technical instructor for Ivoclar Vivadent in
the United States.
In 2005 I started
to teach the technical aspects of complete denture prosthetics to technicians
and clinicians in North America giving a total of 20 hands-on courses to over
200 technicians and clinicians through 2009.
